WGAA held an Intermediate Retrieving Trial at Bacchus Marsh on Sunday 3rd February 2008.
A small field of 8 dogs contested this event, the judge was Graham Hayes.
The first run was a Rabbit Run of about 80m using the bank wall of a small dam as an obstacle for the dogs to negotiate, and mark a rabbit cast amongst trees.
Three dogs were eliminated on this run; the highest scoring dog was Joe Camilleri’s GSP bitch Gemma.
The second run was a Quail Run, whish was cast amongst a long row of Bull Rushes about 70 mts from the firing point, all dogs successfully retrieved the Quail, the highest scoring dog was Angie Bloomer’s GSP bitch, Farli.
The last run was a (water) Duck Retrieve. A high bird was cast in a Billabong type of dam, landing on the bank wall behind some reeds. The dogs were required to commit to a water retrieve of about 80 mts. All dogs completed the run. The highest scoring dog on this run was Alex Jervic’s L’eb bitch Elle.
Overall winners for the Intermediate Retrieving Trial were:
1st Alex Jervic Elle 144 points
2nd Angie Bloomer Freya 132 points
3rd Joe Camilleri Gemma 127 points
