Training Day Sunday 17th August

This month's WGAA training day is this Sunday 17th August.  The entry to the Melton training venue has changed.  Our usual entry  has been  fenced off  and access is now via Reserve Rd, Tullidge St and then Lakewood Blvd - see map below (Click to view in Google Maps).
 There is a small carpark on Lakewood Blvd or otherwise park in Lakeside Blvd itself.  To enter the training venue follow the rock park across the waterway. Dogs must be leashed until you reach the training site - this is a Melton Council requirement.  Name tags must also be worn.
 Training commences at 9am and concludes at approximately 12.00 with a BBQ.  Anyone with a gundog is welcome.

No training day Easter Sunday. Next training day Sunday May 18th.

There will be no training day on Easter Sunday. The next training day will be held on Sunday 18th May 2013 at the Melton Botanic Garden (Darlingsford Lake), Melton. Enter the reserve off Collins Rd and follow the track cross country towards the lake. See sidebar on the right for directions via Google Maps. Training commences at 9am and finishes with a BBQ lunch at around 12pm. Anyone with a gundog is welcome.

Duck Opening Water Practice Day

The traditional WGAA Duck Opening Water Practice Day, held on the weekend before duck opening, once again proved a highly popular event for tuning up before the big day. 40 people and 30 dogs once again enjoyed perfect weather and the opportunity to give their dogs some training over a variety of runs, some challenging and some straightforward, on both land and water. L’Epagnuel  Bretons, German Shorthairs, Labradors, Viszlas, Springers and Pointers all participated.

Responsible, sustainable hunting requires that all shot game be retrieved and the handlers in attendance were making certain that their gundogs were ready to fulfil this requirement.

Training Day - Change of Date for March

The next training day will be held on Sunday 23rd March at the Melton Botanic Garden (Darlingsford Lake), Melton. Enter the reserve off Collins Rd and follow the track cross country towards the lake. Duck Opening Water Test – Sunday 2 March

The club will again be running this exciting activity prior to the opening as an invaluable duck season training aid. The venue will be near Bacchus Marsh. This major event kicks off the year and is a great day out with your dogs.
